Description

The NexTemp® Clinical Thermometer is individually wrapped and intended for single patient use. It is designed for high accuracy readings and to prevent patients from exposure to infections such as C. difficile, MRSA, Norovirus, and Rotavirus. NexTemp® thermometers circumvent this risk by providing a clean, sterile instrument that is used with a single patient and then discarded. Unlike Tempa·DOT™, the NexTemp® thermometer is reusable and automatically resets itself after use.

Product Accuracy

NexTemp®’s accuracy is the same as, or better than, other thermometers commonly used in a healthcare setting. Each of the dots has its own formulated temperature point that fires at a specific temperature. When a dot fires, the color changes from green to black. The number of temperature dots that fire is dependent on the patient’s temperature. The last black dot provides the accurate temperature reading.

It is important to remember that axillary temperature readings are routinely lower than corresponding oral temperature readings. This difference is normal and expected.

Directions for Use

Oral Temperatures:

  • Unwrap the thermometer and place in the mouth under the tongue into either heat pocket for 60 seconds.
  • Remove thermometer after 60 seconds
  • Read the temperature by looking at the last black dot and discard after use.

Axillary Temperatures:

  • Unwrap the thermometer and place high in the underarm with dots facing the torso for 3 minutes
  • Remove thermometer after 3 minutes
  • Read the temperature by looking at the last black dot and discard after use

Note: The signal will reset 20 seconds after being removed, so the temperature must be read immediately. If the thermometer resets itself before the temperature signal can be read, simply retake the patient’s temperature using the same thermometer. For example, the thermometers displayed read 98.6°F and 38.7°C. After 20 seconds, the thermometer will reset.
